Digest Ease Liquid Herbal Extract (Wild Appalachian Bitters)

from $15.00

A uniquely Appalachian herbal bitters blend formulated to aid the body in processing and assimilating nutrients when taken before, during or after meals.

Bitter herbs have always been among the most treasured tools of the herbalist and for good reason - they are foundational to healthy digestion. When you taste bitterness, you wake up the digestive system. Bitter flavor signals the body to increase digestive secretions, fire up that digestive furnace, so to speak, and get to work assimilating nourishment. So - don’t mask the taste of this tincture - really let those bitter receptors on your tongue take it all in. “Bitters” cocktails were, at one time, common to sip on before meals for this reason. You can try a dropperful or so of our Digest Ease Wild Appalachian Herbal Bitters in a few ounces of seltzer or water, you can make it into a little before-supper cocktail, or just squeeze a few drops directly onto the tongue. The main thing is to stimulate those bitter taste receptors - and you can do this all fancy-like, or not! Find what works best for you.

A good diet is not just about what you eat or don’t eat - it’s about the nutrients you can absorb. This is crucial for our well-being!

With the rise of modern agriculture and highly processed foods, the bitter flavor was bred out of our diets in favor of sweet and savory. What we gained in convenience and instant pleasure, we lost in digestive resilience. Today, in a world largely devoid of bitter taste, digestive discomfort and dysfunction has become almost expected.

Rather than masking symptoms, bitter herbs gently retrain the body to process and utilize fuel efficiently.

Digest Ease can be used to soothe occasional gas and bloating, ease nausea and heartburn, stimulate digestive juices, support gentle detoxification, and promote healthy liver function.

What makes our bitters uniquely Appalachian? This herbal blend features wild-harvested Spicebush (Lindera benzoin), a native of the Appalachian mountains prized by both the Native American tribes of this region and European settlers alike for its extraordinary aromatics, warming energetics, and carminative (gas-dispelling) action, bringing both its’ Appalachian cultural tradition and distinctive flavor to this formula. There’s simply nothing like the taste and scent of Spicebush, and there’s nothing quite like hand-harvesting buckets of those bright red berries together as a family, deep in the mountains every late summer/fall. So unique!
